At Sava's Safe Haven, we urgently need your support to build a new safe for the over 250 animals currently in our care.
Our existing shelter is in critical condition and requires immediate repairs. With increasingly severe weather each year, it's evident that our current facility cannot withstand the elements much longer.

Why to rebuild the shelter?
The need to rebuild the shelter is driven by pressing challenges that make this project essential. Without it, our ability to rescue animals in the future will be severely impacted:
Harsh Winter
The shelter has often been buried in snow during winters, making the road impassable and trapping dogs in their kennels due to heavy snowfall and blizzards. Each year, harsh weather conditions wreak havoc on our shelter, with winter snow and strong winds by severe floods in spring.
Lack of electricity
Lack of energy
In winter, we experience power outages due to overcast weather, as our shelter relies solely on photovoltaic panels for electricity. Additionally, the lacks running water and sewage facilities. We source water from a drilled, and the absence of a sewage system is of our biggest challenges.
Poor Kennels
The living conditions for animals at the shelter have grown more uncomfortable, even with our yearly maintenance efforts. We lack adequate space to create new indoor accommodations for older dogs to stay warm when temperatures drop below 0 degrees Celsius.

Bigger Veterinary Clinic Closer to the Community: Improve access to veterinary care for the animals and the community.

A Bigger Storage for Establishing a Food Bank for Animals and a Hub for Emergencies: Ensure a well-stocked supply of food and resources for emergencies.
Land acquisition ✔
We are proud to announce that we have successfully acquired the necessary land for the construction of our new shelter. This new location is closer to our old shelter, but offers improved access to essential facilities such as water and electricity. We believe this move will greatly enhance our ability to serve the community effectively.
Obtain authorization.
We are collaborating closely with an architect to secure the necessary approvals to start construction. This includes obtaining special permits and contracts for electricity and water supply at the site.
Launch construction.
Once we receive approval, we will start building the fences and flood management system, which includes the drainage. After the fence is fully constructed, we will proceed with the construction of the kennels and other rooms. By the end of this stage, we will be ready to begin relocating dogs from the old shelter to the new one.
