What's been happening during August -November.

It's been some time since my last blog to update you all on our adoptions, so this post covers the adoptions we have had through the months of August, September, October and the early part of November 2024 plus what we have been involved with.

The shelter has been very busy over the last few months.

In September we had our spay and neuter programme in the local area which was supported by K9 Aid and the Wild at heart Foundation. We spayed and neutered 117 dogs and cats, which we are so proud of.

Sadly our region was hit by severe flooding and we went out to support local people with food and water. We supplied food for their animals but were totally heartbroken to be told that thousands of animals and birds had perished. We were supported in our efforts by the Animal Protection Office. It was a very worrying and sad time for us, despite our shelter being safe , seeing all the devastation around us.

In October we celebrated World Animal Day with the Animal Protection Office and we were honoured to have SPCA International visit our shelter to see our work and our dogs.

At the end of October we were asking all our supporters to vote for us in the "Spende Marathon by Veto", which happens every year. It's a chance for us to win months of quality dog food from Germany.

We pushed and pushed to get everyone to vote for us and we thought we had lost out but then we had the wonderful news that we had received over 5000 votes and we were in the top 20 that will now be donated food.

We are extremely grateful to everyone who voted for us as the food donation will be a massive help to the running of our shelter.

And with all this going on, we had success on the adoption front as well.

The 3 teams from the UK, France/Belgium and Germany have done an amazing job in securing the following adoptions and foster placements.

The following dogs travelled to Germany either to go into foster prior to adoption or straight into their new homes:

Luciano, Moshu, Bruce, Elina, Pippa, Trixi, Hope, Luna and Tuluc the cat.

Our French colleagues, covering France/Belgium and Luxembourg secured adoptions for the following lucky dogs:

Mimi, Cinnamon, Freddi, Sugar, Luna and Lia.

In the last few weeks we had brilliant news that our 2 beautiful huskies Akye and Cheky were being adopted to a fabulous home in Romania.

And then we had even more wonderful news that Balto and Nanuk were being adopted together to a wonderful family in Canada!

We were so delighted about these 2 adoptions that really came out of the blue.

The UK team sadly only had 3 adoptions.

Peaches now called "Marnie" travelled to St. Albans where she is going to thrive in her new home, enjoying her woodland walks and running around her local park.

Nala now called Akexi has travelled to Hampshire to be with her new family where she has the luxury of having a park practically outside her back door.

Nanu now called Sansa has travelled to Norfolk to join a family who are recent previous adopters from Sava's. She will have a big brother to look after her and show her the way.

Thank you to all our teams for all your hard work over the last few months, let's hope we can secure more adoptions in the near future.
